Her work often highlighted the suffering under Israeli occupation, which she described as “terrorism” that has “killed, displaced, slaughtered, besieged and exiled the Palestinian people,” and she positioned her music as her “only weapon” against it, even comparing the occupation to a cancer invading the land much like her own battle with breast cancer.
