Lotfi Bouchnak, a renowned Tunisian singer and former UN Goodwill Ambassador, has expressed strong support for the Palestinian cause, particularly regarding the situation in Gaza.
In October 2023, he publicly announced his decision to renounce his title as a UN Goodwill Ambassador in protest against the United Nations’ perceived silence and inaction regarding the violence against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
This decision was notably in response to the bombing of the Al-Maamadani Hospital in Gaza on October 17, 2023, which resulted in significant civilian casualties. Bouchnak described the UN’s stance as a “shameful and terrible silence” in the face of these events
