Macklemore
Macklemore has been vocal about his support for Palestine and his criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza. In his 2024 song “Hind’s Hall,” he condemns Israel genocide in Gaza, criticizes U.S. funding of Israel, and supports pro-Palestinian student protests in the U.S.
The song references the death of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl killed by the IOF in Gaza, and calls for a ceasefire. He released a sequel, “Hind’s Hall 2,” in September 2024, continuing his critique of Israel’s actions and U.S. complicity, featuring Gazan rapper MC Abdul and Palestinian-American singer Anees. Macklemore has stated he will donate all proceeds from these songs to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
He has also spoken at pro-Palestinian events, including a march in Washington, D.C., in November 2023, and performed at the Palestine Will Live Forever festival in Seattle, where he made strong statements against U.S. policy, including saying “f**k America” for its role in funding Israel. This led to his removal from the Neon City Festival lineup in Las Vegas in 2024. In a December 2023 poem performed in Seattle, he decried the killing of innocent people in Gaza with U.S. dollars and called for a “Free Palestine,” emphasizing equality and peace for all.
In his music and statements, he argues that criticizing Israel’s actions is not antisemitic, pointing to Jewish people who also support Palestinian liberation. He has consistently framed his stance as one of human rights, empathy, and collective liberation, stating in a 2025 interview that “Palestinian liberation is Jewish liberation” and emphasizing education as a tool to combat fear and division.
