May Calamawy, an Egyptian-Palestinian actress known for roles in shows like Moon Knight and Ramy, has publicly expressed support for Palestine and concern over the situation in Gaza on multiple occasions, often through social media and public statements.
In October 2023, she was one of the signers of an open letter to U.S. President Joe Biden organized by Artists4Ceasefire, which urged immediate de-escalation and a cease-fire in Gaza and Israel to prevent further loss of life. The letter condemned the killing of both Palestinian and Israeli civilians, called for an end to the bombing of Gaza, the safe release of hostages, and emphasized the need for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza’s residents, noting that over half are children and many are refugees.
She has also used her platform to share pro-Palestine messages. For instance, in a tweet, she reportedly stated: “You don’t have to be Palestinian to care about what’s happening in Gaza. I stand with Palestine.
