Rashida Tlaib
Rashida Harbi Tlaib ( born July 24, 1976) is an American lawyer and politician serving as a U.S. representative from Michigan since 2019, representing the state’s 12th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first Palestinian American woman to serve in Congress and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.
Rashida Tlaib is a staunch critic of Israel policy regarding the Palestinians and the genocide in Gaza, a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights and self-determination, a supporter of BDS, and a proponent of conditioning U.S. aid to Israel.
